The choir welcomes singers from eleven, and it rehearses every Saturday through the year rather than for one summer. Our Safeguarding policy was rewritten for exactly that. It covers the age of eleven, it covers our members over eighteen who rehearse alongside younger singers, and it covers what a weekly rehearsal needs that a summer course does not: an attendance register every week, a named list of the adults allowed to collect each singer, and a written procedure for what happens if someone is not collected.
Nobody works with our singers until we have seen their police certificate showing no record of sexual offences against children, which Cyprus law requires of anyone in regular contact with children, plus a clear criminal record certificate, which we ask for on top of it.
A parent or guardian registers on behalf of any singer under fourteen. Photography and filming happen only with written consent from a parent or guardian for anyone under 18. Consent for any promotional use is separate, optional, and refusing it will change nothing about a singer’s place.
